About the Event

Come join Ch8sing Waterfalls for an exhilarating hike at Benton Falls in TN! Embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment as we explore the stunning trails surrounded by nature's beauty. Connect with like-minded women, Ch8se waterfalls, and create lasting memories. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

Located in the Chilhowee Recreation Area of the Cherokee National Forest. Benton Falls Trail is an easy 1.5 mile (each way) hike to the 65 foot waterfall. From Highway 64, turn on NFSR 77 (sign says Chilhowee Recreation Area) and drive 7.2 miles. There are several overlooks to pull off and enjoy with long range views of the mountains and Parksville Lake. Turn right into Chilhowee Day Use Area. There is a $3 day use fee here.

6:45 - Meet us at Ingles Market, 5055 Cherokee St, Acworth, GA 30101

7:00 - Depart Ingles parking lot.

8:00-8:15 - Pit stop at BP at 1010 N 3rd Ave, Chatsworth, GA 30705

9:00-9:15 - Arrive at trail head  at Chilhowee Recreation Area, 3171 US-64, Benton, TN 37307

9:30 - Hike begins

*Please note that the times after departing Ingles parking lot is our best guess at gauging traffic and the flow of the caravan.  Please plan accordingly.

GPS Coordinates: 594R+32 Benton, Tennessee    

Trail Difficult: Easy to moderate: Suitable for those in good physical condition; active/endurance walker; 3+hr duration; 1000-1500ft elevation gain.

Fee: $3 parking fee - carpooling is highly recommended and preferred.

Amenities: Bathroom on site and faciliTrees along the trail.

What to Bring *  Check out our partners REI's Day Hike Packing List to help you prepare.

  • Backpack with chest and/or waist strap
  • Water, hydration
  • Hearty Snacks
  • Ziploc and/or trash bag to pack out your trash, and a grocery bag for your wet, muddy shoes.
  • A pair of recovery shoes/sandals/tennis for the ride home.
  • Please start to hydrate on Friday by drinking extra fluids. Your body will appreciate this during the hike, especially when its hot,
  • Please wear hiking boots.
  • Bring hiking poles.
  • Bring water and or Gatorade to drink during the hike. We cannot express how important it is to stay hydrated
  • If you do not wear a RoadiD please have your emergency contact information sealed in a zip lock bag and placed where it can easily be located if an emergency should occur.
  • Please dress for the weather and wear hiking boots.
  • A hand towel in the event you wish to place your barefeet in the water.
  • A dry change of clothes, to leave in your vehicle, if like Deb, you decide to get into the waterfall and get soaked. 
  • Wear a hat or visor.
  • Apply sunscreen.

Lunch Details

Bring your lunch and something to sit on. We will have lunch at the park after the hike. (*Weather permitting)
